Texas Roots
Published in Hardcover by Southern Historical Press (01 April, 1999)
Author: Margaret F. Goynes-Olson
Average review score:

A must for every library
Filled with useful information on the roots of hundreds and hundreds of Irish Americans. All libraries with geneology information will find this a welcome addition.

A treasure of old photographs and history!
What a BIG beautiful book! 900 pages of old photographs and family histories. TEXAS ROOTS represents 45 years of obsessive
collecting of histories and old family photographs. I know this to be true, because my mother is the author. TEXAS ROOTS is a true labor of love. Some of my first memories are of my mother taking me with her to old houses to visit elders and collecting what information they were able to remember. (There were some things the elders seemed to prefer to forget!) These were the seeds of information that would lead to my mom's life's passion. Her work mushroomed in the early 80's when she got a personal computer. In those days it was difficult to use a computer, but she was determined and she taught herself. She has collected enough histories and photographs to publish several more books like this one. Once you see this book, it will be hard to imagine that one person could put so many histories together. Other memories are of days spent in old cemeteries locating tombstones and making rubbings of them to preserve their information. Imagine all of the family histories that would be lost if she hadn't been obsessive about putting this enormous puzzle of many, many Texas families together through the years. She has sold hundreds of these books and everyone I know who has one treasures it.

Texas Royalty (Special Edition, 1343)
Published in Paperback by Silhouette (August, 1900)
Author: Jean Brashear
Average review score:

Emotion packed end to triology!
A Texas Princess proves to be the missing link in the family tree. But it is a delicate situation for PI Devlin who discovers the child is the girl who broke his heart. TEXAS ROYALTY is well-structured with plots and situations that will touch deep emotions. Jean Brashear can rip your heart out then make you laugh out loud, so be sure to have tissues handy.

Gosh, could Connor get a story??? Pretty please with sugar on top?

Another great book
Jean Brashear has written another great book. This 3rd story about the Gallagher siblings was a good one. Lacey DeMille has to face many trials as she learns about her pass. The one man that she has always loved is Devlin Marlowe. Reluctantly, he is the one to bring all the family secrets out into the open. Dev and Lacey face some hard times but in the end their love for each other wins out. Lacey is able to face the pass and forge a new future that includes her new brothers, Mitch and Boone, her sister Maggie, her parents, and most importantely Devlin.

Texas Sampler is a great cookbook filled with easy to prepare recipes that look like you really toiled over. The cookbook, produced by the Junior League of Richardson is a collection of the best recipes of a membership of over 500 members. The Texas Sampler won the Southwest Tabasco Cookbook award in its first year of publication and its recipes have been featured in Southern Living. A must for every kitchen. Try the Mushroom Baked Brie - a true crowd pleasing appetizer.

Easy to read recipes for a change in your everyday menus.
Texas Sampler provides great recipes for the busy life in the 90s while still providing a "home cooked" feel. The recipes are easy to follow with bulleted directions, and many handy tips provided throughout. A great Kids section is provided in the back. Some of my favorites from Texas Sampler - Avocado Pico De Gallo, Fettucini with Grilled Chicken and Sun Dried Tomatoes, Ray's Poblano Shrimp, and Pecan Pie Squares. All simple, and everyone will love! Best of all, the proceeds benefit the community.

Texas Six Man Football
Published in Paperback by Eakin Publications (June, 1974)
Author: C.H. Underwood
Average review score:

Book Marked Beginning of Modern 6-Man Era
Underwood's book is unique in 6-man literature in that it presents complete "systems" for offense and defense. His thesis/book was written when a "free pass" was still required by the first back taking the snap and a couple of the blocking/ tackling techniques are now illegal, but the emphasis on how and why 6-man differs from the 11- and 8-man games are right on. He clearly differentiates personnel issues - what kinds of bodies are needed for which kinds of offensive and defensive sets. Hard to find, good to have. Bought mine about 28 years ago when we still played 6-man in California and used it as an assistant coach.

Best & Only Sixman Book
I finally got a copy of this book after years of searching. It was worth the wait! Tons of historical info, formations, plays, etc. If you can find one, buy it!

Texas Tender
Published in Paperback by Multnomah Publishers Inc. (June, 1997)
Author: Sharon Gillenwater
Average review score:

Tender and romantic story in a small west Texas town!
Great reading, I could not put it down! Pure romance, with a little adventure for excitement! Thanks for the Christian values and encouraging words in this book for those of us who prefer (need!) less trash in our romance reading. Sharon Gillenwater has been given a blessed talent from God.

A fun romance
If you have read "Love Song" and "Antiques" then you need to read "Texas Tender". It has all your favorite characters from the first two books only picks up a different story. I really enjoyed it. If you like western stories then you should read this book. It is best to read them in order although you don't have too. I highly recommend it.

The Texas Tetrad
Published in Paperback by Writers Showcase Press (August, 2002)
Author: Arthur F. Surovic
Average review score:

Adventure, gunplay, and bitter sacrifice
Set in the 1800's, The Texas Tetrad by Arthur F. Surovic is an attention gripping historical novel of the four Burkett brothers who must fight for their land grant against Comanches, cattle rustlers, Santa Anna's Mexican Armies, and even the greed of the U.S. officials spanning the rise of the Texas Republic to its inclusion into the United States and the bloody conflicts of the Civil War. Highly recommended reading for any western genre fan, the hair-raising exploits filling the pages of The Texas Tetrad represent a deftly written saga of adventure, gunplay, and bitter sacrifice.

Appeals to everyone
This is a novel that appeals to everyone. It has adventure and romance, plus intriguing character development. A page turner that moves along at a good pace. Its battle scenes are as graphic as any in memory and its relationships are interestingly drawn. This is one that you won't want to put down!

Texas Trees: A Friendly Guide
Published in Paperback by Corona Pub (August, 1988)
Authors: Patty Leslie, Paul W. Cox, Sara Harrison, and Gloria Merlo
Average review score:

Indispensable
If you are interested in trees and live in Texas, this is the ONE book you must have. So often you have to buy a Western U.S. book for West Texas and an Eastern U.S. book for East Texas - and you still don't have all the trees in the Rio Grande Valley that are primarily Mexican.

The book is clear and easy to use. Even better, it gives interesting tidbits about each tree's range and habits in Texas, including the location of the largest known example in the state.

Highly recommended!

It Really Works!
Ever wonder what kind of tree you're looking at? If you're in Texas, you can't miss with this book.

The book includes a map of soil types (with its natural diversity, Texas could be a country in itself!) and follows it with general drawings of leaves. Compare the leaf you see to the drawings in the book and you're sent to a tree family. From there you simply find the tree from more detailed drawings and area maps. It's easy! I am now considered a tree guru.

What else? Look through the book and find which trees will do best in your area, their size and flowers, virtually everything the homeowner, naturalist, or budding naturalist needs or wants to know.

When hiking our many parks and wildscape areas, other naturalist books stay home. This book comes with me...it's great!

A perfect wedding gift!
I loved reading this wonderful book! It is filled with a variety of exciting, touching, inspiring, and funny stories, including those of some people you may recognize (especially if you're a Texan), such as Roger Staubech and Neil Sperry. The book is very entertaining, and full of wonderful advice for married couples. I plan to buy it for everyone I know who is getting married.

Heartwarming! Inspirational!

Texas Wildcat
Published in Paperback by Bantam/Fanfare (June, 1997)
Author: Adrienne Dewolfe
Average review score:

I now LOVE Historical Romance!!!!
Texas Wildcat was my first.... This is an incredible, heart-warming, truly Texas story that will totally charm you. The chemistry between Bailey and Zach is so real and honest. Bailey's struggle with her own feminity and the expectations of the times about women's roles is delightfully told. And yes, it will make you heart beat faster too!!! Wow!! Buy it, read it, love it.

I have GOT to read more by Adrienne deWolfe!!

I now love Historical Romance!!!!
Texas Wildcat was my first...And I was totally captivated. We all assume that the male/female roles of the times were so rigid that no self-respecting woman would dare challenge them. Well, then there was the Texas Wildcat....The characters are so crystal clear that I feel like I know them personally. Buy it, read it, love it!!

I have GOT read more of Adrienne deWolfe. She really knows how to tell a great Texas tale.
